The side of Montgomery’s face lay against Sean’s chest and the sound of his chuckle that seemed a second nature to him was deep. The light spray of flat hairs on his chest was soft. His muscles hard.

And the smell of him.

Something warm with woody notes.

She fought the natural urge to ease one of her legs atop his. Or to let the hand lightly resting on his muscled arm slide down to slip beneath the elastic waistband of his pajama bottoms.

Why fight it?

“Are you warming up?” Sean asked.

Am I.

Her body was on high alert from being pressed against him. Everything either throbbed or raced. One of his brown nipples was in her line of vision and she wanted so desperately to trace it with her tongue. Until it hardened. And he moaned in pleasure.

“Try to get some rest,” he said, sounding as if his own voice was heavy with oncoming sleep.

When he pressed a kiss to the top of her head it felt the most natural thing in the world.

She stared into the embers of the fireplace, imagining giving in to her desires, until soon her eyes closed as she drifted to sleep as well.
